Is there any situation that the Voile Strap can’t improve?

The updated Hyper Glide climbing skins now feature the same easy-to-use and rapidly repairable tail attachement that has been field-proven on our splitboard skins. A hardened and anodized aluminum plate is riveted to the tip and tail of POMOCA’s hydrophobic mohair/nylon plush, with a stainless steel tip loop and indestructible urethane tail strap that keeps those skins secure.

Available in three dimensions specifically fit to the go-far Voile Objective and Endeavor touring skis, these climbing skins offer the extra grip needed to make difficult ascents possible without adding unnecessary weight.

Made with the perfect blend of 70% mohair and 30% nylon, Hyper Glide Ski Skins are light, grippy, and glide so well you’ll think you left your skins in your pack.

The hytrel tip attachment and toggle remain flexible when the temperature plummets, and an elastic universal Voile Strap tail clip ensures your skins stay snug and secure. The 100% waterproof membrane between the fibers and the adhesive drastically improves durability and glue performance while reducing weight and making them more pliable for easy stowing. And the Ever Dry hydrophobic treatment makes sure they keep gripping, whatever the weather—no need for sprays or waxes to stop the glop.

These are the climbing skins you reach for when your destination is especially remote or when making fast time is critical.

    CONSTRUCTION

    • 70% Mohair – 30% Nylon
    • Hytrel Tip Attachment and Toggle
    • Hardened and Anodized Aluminum Tail Plate
    • Stainless Steel Rivets
    • Elastic Tail Strap with Universal Tail Clip
These skins harness POMOCA’s research and development of materials, weaving techniques, and fiber attachment systems to provide a combination of gripping power and durability in a light weight package:

    • Safer Skin: A 100% waterproof membrane that prevents the transfer of moisture between the skin’s plush and adhesive layers. This drastically improves the glue performance from edge to edge while also increasing the skin’s tear resistance. This (2nd) generation of their lining is made with finer layers, which effectively reduce weight and make the skin more pliable (easier to trim, handle, and stow).
    • Ever Dry: This hydrophobic treatment is applied to the entire length of the skin’s fibres, guaranteeing life-long protection without the need for antiglopping sprays.

Great skin material, attachments are frustrating.
The skin material on this is great. Super glidey, that might mean they are less grippy but I wouldn't know as I'm only skiing low angle slopes. I like that the skin is all one width. It makes folding them up easier and putting them on easier because I don't have to line it up perfectly to avoid the edges on the entire ski. The elastic tip attachment was a bad idea. The skin always sits low on the ski when the elastic is adequately tensioned, as you can see in the product photo. Because the black attachment point between the skin and elastic creates a small gap and the skin sits almost below the tip rocker of the ski, you are constantly forcing snow into that gap. Every time I take the skin off, I have a bunch of snow and frost on the tip of the skin. If you try and move the skin further up the ski, the elastic won't be fully tensioned and will pop out often. Even with the elastic full tensioned, it still pops off occasionally. I don't see any reason why the tip plug should be elastic when the tail is adjustable and has a little stretch. Dynafit has it right with their tip plugs. Voile should do something like that. I personally find it easier to pull skins from the tail and plan on adding a tip bracket. The tail has enough adjustment to accommodate that. Overall this is a 5/5 skin with a 2/5 attachment.

Good Skins, attachments could be improved.
The skins glide well and grip as well as a predominately mohair skin should. Who actually wants to ascend a skin track so steep that requires the grip of a fully nylon skin!?! I found the tail attachments finicky. The tip bungee has so much more elasticity than the voile strap on the tail. When putting them on the ski, I'd slot the tip, pull the bungee somewhat tight, push the skin against the ski, and then try to attach the voile strap and clip to the tail. But I would pull the tip bungee a different amount every time and so the tail attachment would often not be in the correct position and would fall outside of its elastic range. The position of the notch-locking plastic clip on the voile strap is a bit difficult to adjust, so it was easier to peel the skin and reset. I found more success by first attaching the tail, pressing the skin, and then attaching the tip bungee, but then I was awkwardly pushing against the direction of the plush of the skin. After a few tours, I replaced the tip bungee with a static cord and am much happier with the skins. Every time I put them on, the tail clip is in the correct position and is appropriately snug. It is true that I have likely increased the time of my frantic skimo race transitions by a second or two, but I accept that penalty.
