Absolutely the best binding for the variable BC terrain of upstate New York. Flats, rolls, climbs, trail downhills--this binding handles them all. Switching tour to downhill modes is easy with the flick of the ski pole.

Best back country binding for rolling terrain
This binding is perfect for rolling terrain. I decided against the TTS because I didn't like the fact that you had to stop and put on the heal cable. This isn't efficient for rolling terrain. I live in Ontario so I have to constantly switch back and forth between the DH and Touring mode and this is so easy! It is just a flip of the tap. All my other setups I have to take off the ski and that is really annoying. I am sometimes in deep snow and can't really take off my skis. I absolutely love this binding, please keep making it!! I would love to be able to use this binding with a soft boot some day, but I don't know if the boot companies would make such a thing. I can deal with the hard boot if I am not touring long distances, which right now I am not. I can't thank Voile enough for the development of their back country skis and bindings.

    Solid performing binding
Decided to give the Switchback a try as my previous “go-to” tele-binding is no longer in production and spare parts (cables and cartridges) are increasingly difficult to find. The Switchback matched the four-hole setup of my previous binding (all my side/backcountry skis have inserts, just in case), so no need to re-drill. While there is some difference in how the Switchback “feels” (hardwire vs. cable) when dropping a knee, I had no difficulty matching the tele-turns I made on my previous binding. The Switchback is pretty basic when it comes to a “modern” tele binding, which is what I like. It doesn’t have that “stacked” feel or stiffness that many other bindings I’ve tried have. As long as Voile keeps making the Switchback, I’ll keep buying them.

    Go-to Backcountry ski expedition binding
This is a very reliable binding for backcountry ski expeditions where you are on your own with field repairs and parts and deal with very cold temperatures and bindings chocked with snow and ice. Paired with Scarpa T-4 we use them on month-long expeditions in Arctic Canada each year and have not had a single failure

    Gold Standard
The Switchback for me remains the gold standard in neutral telemark bindings for those of us who like to go low. Reasonably lightweight and durable. As long as Voile keeps making them, I'll keep buying them.

    Voile Switchback Tele binding
Quality materials and a simple design makes the Switchback well worth the investment if you are a backcountry tourer. The free pivot design is nearly fool proof and for me the softer cartridges are just right. Switching from ski to tour mode is simple. Thanks Voile for continuing to produce quality Tele bindings

    Solid and old school
I took a weird direction with tele --- started out downhill, went to AT then NTN and now 75mm. I skied these a bunch last season, both on a pair of metal edge Fischer S Bounds and some Black Crowes. They're nice on each. I was just out on the S Bounds yesterday and marveled at how much control I had versus NNN BC even with the leather Alpina boots I've been using. Still searching for the perfect setup, but I'm starting to suspect these are part of it...

    Keeping it real
Thank you, Voile, for still producing fine telemark bindings! I have ridden many bindings in my years of telemarking, and I'm a Switchback fan! The Switchback gives me the confidence to ski worry-free and to go as far as I want. I appreciate it's simplicity and durability. Keep on keeping it real Voile!

    The last Tele binding
I've generally given up on telemark. Alpine is so easy! And has such a great calibrated release system. Like a sheep, I go with freeride downhill gear at the resort. Tele on hardpack is kinda uninspiring anyhow. And tech bindings have that nice combo of light weight, free pivot, easy skiing, and calibrated safety release, so a favorite for high angle more consequential backcountry skiing. However these Switchbacks along with fishscale base Vector BC skis have a place. The set up to use for lower angled backcountry trips, mixed terrain, and for complex exits from a peak. You get great maneuverability, up, down and around, and strong tele turns to cut through deep and heavy snows. The Switchbacks are reasonably light, nearly foolproof free pivot for easy trail breaking, and long lasting. I can't think of a better choice for the purpose.
